PE and Sport Premium

Our School aspires to the 7 High Quality National Outcomes which guide the work of all Primary Sport Alliance Partnerships:

• Increased participation in high quality PE.
• Increased participation in high quality out of school hours learning. 
• Increased participation in high quality informal activity.                                                                                
• Increased attainment and achievement through PE and sport.                                                                      
• Improved behaviour and attitude in PE, sport and whole school.
• Increased participation in competitive and performance opportunities.                                                          
• Increased involvement in community sport and improved quality of community life.

What impact the school has seen on pupils’ PE and sport participation?

All children complete 2 hours of high quality PE each week with a dedicated PE HLTA or their class teacher. A PE TA has also supported PE across KS2 and has supported children being active at lunchtimes.  

What impact the school has seen on pupils’attainment?

In 2020/21 the school was in line or above in all statutory attainment measures. (NB this was based on Teacher assessment as there were no formal assessments due to Covid 19.  The PE premium was used to ensure children at Penponds are fit, active and can make healthy choices as independent learners.

In July 2020 the number of pupils within the year 6 cohort that could do the following:

·         Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres:  83%

·         Use a range of strokes effectively: 83%

·         Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations: 75%
